Amazon Prime Day Is July 16 (Probably)

Mark your calendars and prepare your wallets—or, if you’re trying not to spend any money, your site blockers: Amazon’s yearly extravaganza of online deals is approaching. A recent leak suggests it’s all happening on Monday, July 16.

The leak actually comes from Amazon’s own goof. According to TechRadar, they accidentally published an ad banner for Prime Day 2018 on the Amazon UK website. TechRadar screencapped the banner before Amazon could take it down. Now the cat’s out of the bag.

Amazon hasn’t confirmed the date, but the timing seems right. July 16 is the day after the World Cup Final on July 15. The banner says it will begin at noon, but it’s unclear if that will be the start time for all shoppers, or only those in the UK currently on BST. Last year’s Prime Day began on July 10 at 6 p.m. BST in the UK and at 9 p.m. EST in the US. That would mean this year’s deals probably kick off at noon on the West Coast in PST, but at 3 p.m. for those on the East Coast in EST.

And while last year’s shopping spree only lasted 30 hours, this year’s Prime deals is expected to run for 36 hours through July 17. There’s no word yet on what the big deals will be, but expect electronics, toys, books, games, clothing, and more to all be heavily discounted. Make sure you’re ready to roll this year—you’ve got plenty of time to prepare!
