Create Your Own Religion in Godhood Which Launches Next Year
The latest title from Abbey Games is set for launch next year. The studio based in the Netherlands are responsible for Reus and Renowned Explorers and have unveiled their next video game. Godhood is a strategy game in which players take control of a newborn deity in order to create and grow their religion. The first teaser trailer for the game is out now:
Godhood
The trailer gives us a preview of many of the games features packed into a beautiful hand-drawn art style that we have seen in Reus and Renowned Explorers. In Godhood, players play the role of a young god, create their religion and look after their loyal followers. While the player has no direct control over the actions of their followers, they can influence them by various methods. Prophets can be sent, monuments can be built and selecting virtues will affect the choices made by the followers.
When creating a religion, it is up to the player to select the rituals, virtues and vices of the followers. Guiding the followers by deciding which rituals to perform, managing abilities and powers and constructing monuments are all ways to make your religion flourish. Just like the player, there will be other deities and you will have to fight your rivals for power and influence. In ritual fights, properly known as Sacraments, the player must send their most powerful warrior to fight in their religion’s name.
Godhood is Abbey Games’ third project and is set to release in 2019. Their first two titles, Reus and Renowned Explorers, were both highly successful strategy games released in 2013 and 2015 respectively. As both games feature a colorful art style and are part of the strategy and management genre, Abbey Games’ direction with Godhood seems clear-cut. Currently, Godhood is expected to be released on the PC sometime next year. To learn more about Godhood, check out their website.
