Galaxy S10’s Exynos 9820 Processor Said To Use ARM’s DynamIQ Architecture

Reports about Samsung’s next flagship smartphone are now coming in at a steady pace. The company is expected to officially announce its Exynos 9820 chip later this year which will be used to power the Galaxy S10. As per a new report, the processor will use ARM’s DynamIQ architecture.

ARM’s DynamIQ architecture improves 64-bit multicore Cortex-A integration, allowing for on-chip acceleration units for enhanced artificial intelligence applications. It allows for a single-cluster design which can be scaled from a single Cortex-A CPU to as many as eight CPUs in a single cluster.

A China-based source claims that the Exynos 9820 octa-core processor will be based on the DynamIQ architecture with two custom Samsung Mongoose M4 cores, two Cortex-A75 or Cortex-A76 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. The technical specifications of Samsung’s Mongoose M4 performance cores haven’t been revealed so far but rumors have suggested that it may have a clock speed of over 3.30GHz.

It’s not known right now what the process technology for the Exynos 9820 will be. Some reports have claimed that it’s going to be a 7nm chip even though Samsung isn’t expected to start production of its 7nm chips before early next year. That would make it impossible for the company to ship the Galaxy S10 with a 7nm processor.
