Google Working on Developing a Fix for Camera Error on 2nd Gen Pixel, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Google claims to be working on the issue of the ‘camera fatal error’ which is reportedly occurring in a few Second Generation Pixel cameras, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Ever since they were launched, some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices’ users reported the issue with the Camera which prevented them from opening the camera application. The phones closed down after giving a ‘fatal camera error’ message.

The temporary solution given by Google entails clearing the camera app’s cache, restarting phone and trying opening the camera again. However, some users like @CiarasRamblings complained that this solution was not effective in spite of doing a factory reset. In response to her tweet, Google suggested putting the phone in Airplane mode and then trying taking a photo.

I've tried that already and it didn't work. I've also put my phone into safe mode to see if another app is affecting it and I did a factory reset but nothing has worked. I've only had the phone for 3 or 4 months so it's really odd!

Even though this problem seems odd for such outstanding cameras, still it comes as good news that Google acknowledges its presence as a software issue and is working on building a solution for it. According to some early reports, the company may also be replacing these individual phones that are facing this issue. However, as yet there is no official news on whether or not it is happening.

The current problem is being faced by only a small number of Pixel 2 devices which has been occasional for some, and a single occurrence for others. Users who have been successful in fixing this issue still report faults in the cameras including corrupted shots and focus failure.
