Microsoft releases Windows 10 Redstone 5 17692.1004 to the Slow Ring

Microsoft had released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17692 to Fast Ring and Skip Ahead Insiders around fifteen days before and had brought various improvements and features to it. Those who were on the Slow Ring were eagerly waiting for the same Build to be released for them as well. There was no attention given to Slow Ring users as far as Windows 10 Redstone 5 was concerned.

Skip Ahead and Fast Ring have been consistently testing for RS5 for many months now. However, Slow Ring has been on a never-ending waiting list. Finally, after so much wait, Microsoft has released Windows 10 Redstone 5 build 17692.1004 for Slow Ring.

What is there in the Windows build for Slow Ring?

As it is the very first build from the development branch, it offers quite a lot of latest features. In this build, apart from the features already included such as GameBar, SwiftKey integration and Microsoft Edge improvements among many others, a few others have also been included. According to Microsoft’s official blog, following features have been added:

  • We fixed the issue where the login screen would crash in a loop when the active sign-in method is set to Picture Password.
  • We fixed the issue where DRM video playback in Microsoft Edge from websites such as Netflix was broken.
  • We fixed the issue where Keyboard Settings found under Ease of Access were missing text as well as visible values in the two combo boxes.
  • We have improved reliability and performance for launching Start.

In addition to all this, new snipping experiences are also available including new pen settings, HEIF support, Swiftkey and a lot more. In Redstone 5 one of the top features was Sets. However, just as with Redstone 4, the feature was taken away before it could be introduced to the Slow Ring users.
The users that are on the Slow Ring can install today’s introduced build by going to Settings -> Update & security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates.
