Office 365 Updates SharePoint to Allow Creation of Modern Sites without Group Permissions

Microsoft has rolled out a new update for Office 365 which brings changes to SharePoint Online.  The latest update adds the ability to create “modern” sites, even if users don’t have the permissions to create Office 365 Groups.

Currently, the end users don’t have permissions to create groups as they are created automatically or by the IT department. This, in turn, only allows users to create “classic” SharePoint sites. Microsoft plans to roll out the new update sometime this month with new changes.

The update will allow users to create Modern websites despite not having group creation privileges. Also, with this Office 365 update, the end users can select the default language of a SharePoint site they are creating. Microsoft offers a choice of 50 different languages. With the coming Office 356 update, end users will be able to select a default language for a site that’s different from the organization’s default language set at the organizational level, Microsoft’s announcement explained. Microsoft has also given IT Pro better control over the websites created by the users.

All these changes will roll out to the users soon. In the meantime, users can head to Microsoft’s website to read the full announcement.
