WhatsApp’s Latest Update makes it easy for Group Admins to Control Groups

Communication in group chats is reportedly going to become a lot more convenient with the latest update that WhatsApp has rolled out. The new option will allow for the restriction of sending messages to group administrators only. This seemingly small change will have a huge impact on how information can be shared in the group chat that may have hundreds of people in it. Admins of group chats will no longer have to worry about important announcements getting vanished in noisy chatter.

This new function can be enabled by admins by going to ‘group settings’ and clicking on ‘send messages’, then selecting ‘only admins’. Regular members on the group chat would not be able to contribute to the group anymore but will be able to receive notifications and new messages.

In a blog post, WhatsApp introduced this new change, “Today, we’re launching a new group setting where only admins are able to send messages to a group. One way people use groups is to receive important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations. We’ve introduced this new setting so admins can have better tools for these use cases.”

The latest featured update will bring about many other improvements including group descriptions, a catch up feature, and ways to prevent users from re-entering groups that they have previously left. This new feature will be available for users all around the world. However, older devices will no longer be supporting this application from 1st February 2020 after the company lately announced this news.
