Motorola Announces Android Pie Updates for 8 smartphones excluding Moto E5 & G5

The Moto G5 has long been awaiting an operating system update. As much of the range of Motorola’s cellphones have now started to integrate the Android Pie operating system upgrade, it seems that the Moto G5 is only receiving a newer version of Android Oreo for stability’s sake. This new version is set to bring important security patches for the operating system.

Android Pie is the newest Android operating system range which is exclusive to Google’s Pixel smartphones. Just yesterday, Motorola announced that it is incorporating Android Pie into eight of its smartphones, but unfortunately, Moto G5, a phone that was much awaiting an operating system upgrade got left off the list of the products due to receive it this fall.

Both the Moto E5 and Moto G5, phones from earlier this year and last year, respectively, will not be receiving the Android Pie upgrade. Instead, the two are scheduled to receive Android Oreo patch updates which improve the system’s security on the smartphones.

The eight smartphones: Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play. Moto Z2 Force Edition, Moto Z2 Play, Moto X4, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6, and Moto G6 Play will all be able to use the new operating system’s latest and smartest features such as its system level gesture controls, enhanced artificial intelligence, a far improved notifications system, as well as a good variety of other Android Pie exclusive features.

The Moto E5 and Moto G5 will not be able to use these improvements, but they’re not at too much of a loss as Motorola has its own native counterparts of the gesture controls, artificial intelligence, and notifications mechanism which it will use along with the Android Oreo operating system.

The Moto G5 was initially released on the Android Nougat 7.0 operating system. It has since been upgraded to Android Oreo 8.0 and is now due to receive the latest patches for updated security definitions for the device.
