New Intel Coffee Lake H310 Chipset Will Support Windows 7 Due To Popular Demand

Intel dropped support for Windows 7 for the current generation of CPUs and you can imagine that did not bode well with people that did not want to switch to the new Windows 10 operating system. While Windows 10 has been out for a long time now and the adoption rate is pretty impressive there are those that can’t or just won’t make the switch. That is why the upcoming Intel Coffee Lake H310 chipset will support Window 7.

AMD Ryzen, Intel Kaby Lake and Intel Coffee Lake dropped support for the previous operating system but it is worth mentioning that Window 7 has a very strong user base and it has been used by businesses. Businesses are not too keen on changing operating systems and that is one of the reasons why they have not moved on to Windows 10. Which in tern means that they cannot use the AMD Ryzen, Intel Kaby Lake and Intel Coffee Lake chips.

The upcoming Intel Coffee Lake H310 chipset that will support Windows 7 is expected to be branded as H310C or the H310 R2.0. This is what you need to be looking out for if you are interested in using the new chips with the older OS. It can be said that Intel is giving in to the popular demand for the Windows 7 platform.

We can also take it another way. Intel needs to sell as many CPUs as it can in order to compete with AMD that is already offering a higher core count and a better value per core. That could be another reason why Intel is now looking to cater to the previous OS even though it did not support it last time. It is worth noting that the upcoming CPUs are still going to be based on the 14nm process and that the 10nm process chips will be coming out in the second half of 2019.

If you already have a Coffee Lake CPU then you might want to skip the upcoming generation of Intel Coffee Lake CPUs and get the 10nm based chips instead when they come out next year. It will be interesting to see what these upcoming chips will have to offer.
