How to Sign Into and Use AIM

Signing into and using AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) used to be incredibly simple – you could simply sign into your Aim.com email account, navigate to your AIM Mail inbox, and you could use AIM to talk to your contacts by locating them in the left pane. Unfortunately, that is the case no longer. Ever since AIM was discontinued back in December of 2017, AIM users can no longer access the instant messenger by simply signing into their Aim.com mail accounts or their AOL Mail accounts. If you would like to know how you can sign into and use AIM, listed below are the last valid instructions for getting to your AIM account and using it via AIM Mail:

1. On an internet browser of your choosing, navigate to mail.aim.com.
2. On the right side of your mail, locate and click on Sign In.
3. When prompted to do so, type in your AIM screen name and the password for your AIM account.
   Note: If you don’t want to have to type in your credentials and manually sign into your AIM account every single time, check the box that says Automatically sign into AIM when I sign into Mail to enable that option.
4. Click on Sign In to actually sign into your AIM account.

Once you have successfully signed into your AIM account, you will see your AIM Buddy List to the right side of your mail. All of the contacts you have on AIM will be listed as buddies of yours in this list, and simply selecting the entries for any of them from this list will allow you to send Instant Messages and text messages to them.
