The Culling 2 releases tomorrow

The Culling is a battle royale game developed by Xaviant that was released in 2016. The game had a short lifespan due to several issues and dwindling player count, which is why development was ceased on the game a few months ago. Shortly after, developer and publisher Xaviant unveiled the sequel titled The Culling 2. The game was said to be released soon and now we have a confirmed release date. The Culling 2 will be available starting tomorrow July 10th on PC.

The Xaviant Youtube channel posted an announcement trailer for the game:

“The game mechanics, the match pacing, and the online server performance are all tuned to provide the cleanest, rawest, most visceral competition on the planet.”

The Steam listing for the game currently does not display a price, but the developers have previously stated that the game will retail for $20 USD. Unlike its predecessor, The Culling 2 will face a full release instead of spending an uncomfortably long time in Early Access.

The Culling 2

According to the Steam page, The Culling 2 shares similarities to the original whilst adding loads of new content. Firstly, the play area of the matches has been expanded to a whopping 20 square kilometres. The max player count per match has also been increased to 50 players. The Culling 2 features a wide array of weapons “ranging from 9mm pistols to high-caliber sniper rifles.” Moreover, the developers state that, “All ballistics have been carefully tuned to match real-world equivalents, making for tense and tactical firefights.” The developers have attempted to stay true to the original melee focused encounters by implementing a whole new melee combat system. However, the overhauled close quarter combat aspect of the game may be overshadowed by the addition of guns.

Regardless, I am excited to see how The Culling 2 plays. Hopefully this time the developers are more cautious and make efforts to keep players interested.
