AMD Semiconductor Deal With Tesla, Based On Vega 20 Architecture
AMD is everywhere and it is not shying away from marketing that information. The current generation consoles are powered by AMD, there are CPUs, GPUs and even APUs, for laptops and desktops. Other than that Intel is also using the AMD Vega core to replace their integrated graphics in some SKUs. Now it seems that AMD is looking to power Tesla cars as well.
There is very little information that we know about the AMD semiconductor deal with Tesla, but it is safe to say that this could be worth millions and our source claims that the deal is for the Vega 20 architecture based chip. Team Red has been getting some pretty big clients recently, Apple is one of them, and this is a great thing. AMD is getting the momentum that it needs and with that, it can concentrate on developing new products and bringing new and innovative technologies.
The source was right about the fact that team Red would release a 32 core CPU into the market and not only has AMD been able to do that, it has pulled it off before Intel. intel has not even launched a 28 core SKU and we already have the Threadripper 32 core 64 thread ready to do. Plus, it does not need an industrial chiller to keep it cool, it can hold its own on air.
We should be able to get more information regarding the deal before the end of the year. The source is not AMD or Tesla so you will need to take this information with a grain of salt. We will learn more in due time so stay tuned for more information regarding the matter.
Team Red has been gaining a lot of ground ever since it came back and it has put a lot of pressure on Intel. While the launch of the graphics side was a bit shaky team Red has delivered on its promise by making tweaks with the help of driver support. Performance gains have been improved drastically since the graphics cards first came out and the company has not stopped there.
