H1Z1 Just Survive Shutting Down in October

H1Z1 is a zombie survival game developed by Daybreak Games. Originally a single game, H1Z1 was split into a separate survival game and another battle royale title. Developer Daybreak Games announced that the survival game Just Survive will be shutting down on October 24th.

Announced in a Steam post yesterday, the developers share the news and answer some of the questions that many fans had. “The excitement of the game’s promise was palpable and its loyal community is still full of ideas for its future. Unfortunately, we are no longer in a position to fulfill its greatness and the current population of the game makes it untenable to maintain.”

Ever since its release back in January 2015, Just Survive had a rocky journey as it was Daybreak’s first Early Access project. Although the battle royale standalone game was highly successful and even launched on PlayStation 4 recently, Just Survive was left in the dust for many reasons, mostly because of a large number of bugs and technical issues.

“Thank you for taking the time to play the game, to help test it when we opened the Test servers to the public, and for all of the suggestions and feedback throughout Early Access.”, says Daybreak’s Just Survive Team. “We truly appreciate everyone’s commitment and your contributions throughout the development process. Our promise is to do better and learn from every experience along the way.”

After October 24th 11 AM Pacific Time, dedicated servers for Just Survive will be disabled and the game will be taken off Steam. Until that date, players can continue to play Just Survive, although no new content updates will be released and in-game item purchasing has been disabled. While Daybreak Games will not offer refunds to owners of Just Survive, those who meet the Steam refund policies are eligible to claim a refund.
