Intel Arctic Sound Discrete Graphics Teased, Release In 2020
Intel Arctic Sound is the code name for the upcoming discrete graphics solution by Intel. This is not the first time that we are going to get a discrete graphics card from Intel but this might as well be the first time that Intel is going to step into the discrete graphics space at a very large scale. The Intel Arctic Sound graphics are going to be coming out in 2020.
Intel Arctic Sound graphics will target gaming as we have seen that hinted in the teaser trailer. Intel has been having some issues taking on AMD in the CPU market and we know that Intel is lagging behind when it comes to the 10nm process. We also know that all the CPUs that are going to be coming out this year are going to be based on the 14nm process.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see how Intel is going to compete with AMD in the CPU market, while on the other hand, compete with Nvidia and AMD in the graphics market as well. The teaser seems to have plenty of the words that Raja Koduri used when Vega and Polaris were going to be launched. It seems that he is going to pick up where he left off and continue his work at Intel. He might be able to pull it off this time at Intel.
From what we can see from the trailer, the Intel Arctic Sound graphics card seem to be a single slot GPU and it might have a metal fin fan. But keeping in mind the Intel Arctic Sound GPU is not due until 2020, it is more than likely that the design of the card is not even final yet so I would not take the hints from the trailer to heart. There is still a lot of time before the graphics card comes out and plenty of things can change in this window of time.
It will be interesting to see how well Intel Arctic Sound is going to compete with Nvidia and AMD graphics cards.
