KDE Neon Preview Based Against Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Now Available for Testing

KDE Neon, considered one of the best in bringing cutting-edge features to distros using it, has been brought to Ubuntu 18.04 “Bionic Beaver” base for testing.

For a long time, KDE Neon was based against Ubuntu 16.04 LTS – but now users can enjoy preview images of Neon based on the 18.04 LTS package, which means you’ll get the newer Ubuntu packages such as the latest kernel, Mesa drivers, and all the other features of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, while also using the latest in KDE Neon tech.

The ISO images come in the following formats, depending on your tolerance for risk:

• User: Packages continuously built from latest releases.  Use this edition if you are uncertain.
• Developer Edition Git Stable Branches: Built continuously from Git beta and stable branches.  Use this edition to test beta and forthcoming code which has not gone through QA.
• Developer Edition Git Unstable Branches: Built continuously from Git unstable branches.  Use this edition to test forthcoming feature code which has not gone through QA.

We should stress that this is a preview in testing package, and the KDE Neon developers are hoping to announce an official release based on Bionic by around the end of August.
