Nvidia RTX 2080 Preorders Start This Monday
The Nvidia RTX 2080 is supposed to be the top of the line graphics card in the upcoming generation, at least till the Ti version is released and according to reports it will have performance similar to that of the Titan V. This is very impressive keeping in mind that the Titan V is a $3000 graphics card. A previously released trailer confirmed that the upcoming series will indeed be called RTX and new Quadro graphics cards have already been released under the same name.
The RTX could mean that these graphics cars will support Nvidia Ray Tracing technology which we know that Metro Exodus is going to use. This feature will not be available on the Pascal GPUs and it seems that it is exclusive to the high-end next-generation Nvidia graphics cards. If this is indeed the case then it will be easy for the consumer to know which graphics cards support Nvidia Ray Tracing and which ones don’t.
New reports have come in that claim that the pre-orders for the Nvidia RTX 2080 will start next Monday. This information comes from NordicHardware, which is, of course, no confirmation but it is worth mentioning that this source has a very accurate track record, so it is possible. It has also been suggested that the upcoming Nvidia RTX 2080 will be priced somewhere between the GTX 1080 and 1080 Ti. Keeping in mind that the performance is expected to be close to the Titan V, I think that this is great value for money.
We recently found an email from an Nvidia partner that suggested that the Nvidia graphics cards will be announced this month and that the 1180 will start shipping soon after. So it is possible that pre-orders will start soon. But I would take this information with a grain of salt and wait for the official confirmation from Nvidia.
It will be interesting to see what kind of performance the Nvidia RTX 2080 will have to offer as compared to the 10 series graphics cards as well as the GPUs from AMD. The cards will be announced in the next few weeks so that wait is shorter than you think.
