Nikon Announces AF-S 500mm f/5.6E PF Technology ED VR Lens Smallest and the Lighest

After the official announcement of developing a new AF-S 500mm f/5.6 PF lens in June, the image of Nikon’s version of this remarkable camera has finally been posted by Pavel Bednyakov, a photographer. The photograph uploaded to twitter shows that it has an exciting PF technology and is lighter and smaller than any other camera released before it.

It looks like the camera will be more convenient to hold than Nikon’s 200mm f/2 and the earlier versions which were limited as far as how they could be handheld for a longer time. The latest PF technology of this camera makes it super light and small to handle.

Nikon’s 500mm uses a Phase Fresnel lens element which “effectively compensates for chromatic aberration utilizing the photo diffraction phenomenon”, as mentioned by Nikon. The PF technology makes the camera lens remarkably light weight and compact with fewer lens elements, making them conveniently hand-holdable and more maneuverable than the previous 200mm f/2.

The rumors regarding this under-development camera with the amazing PF technology are still around and the expected release will officially happen sometime later this year.
